Counselor
The guidance program at MDECA is based on teaching monthly character traits. These character traits are voted on each August
by the teaching staff and then used during 2 lessons each month in each classroom. Notice that we align the guidance lessons to the state
Pre-kindergarten standards. We also build vocabulary through the guidance lessons and ask that both teachers and parents continue
to “bath the children in language” using the positive character words.
At the end of each month, teachers nominate the “winners” of that month’s character trait. Parents of winners are invited to watch their
child receive the STAR student character awards during an all school assembly.
