Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy Home

Our Story

Meridith-Dunbar Elementary was named for G. C. Meridith, former principal of Dunbar High School and poet Paul Dunbar.  It was established in 1896 as a two room school between 10th and 12 Street.  The first graduating class of three students received their diplomas in 1903.  The school was named Dunbar High School in the early 1900’s.  It was renamed Meridith Junior High School in 1968.  Meridith-Dunbar became an elementary school in 1970.  Meridith-Dunbar opened its doors as Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy in the 2013-2014 school year.

Please join us for this come and go event. This is your child's time to shine as they share many of the things they have been working on this year with you.
All students that attend will be entered into a drawing for a pretend play kitchen. Winner will be announced on May 17th.

Join us for a morning of fun and games!
8:30 start time - Chicholm, Clifton, Kimmel, Lee, Fletcher, Durbin, Anika, & Hill
9:00 start time - Neas, Cox, Williams
10:15 start time -Pedio, Cadavid, Abel, Watson, Daniels, Frausto, Solomon, Valdez

Students will need to wear clothes that are ok to get wet as there will be water activities. Please send a labeled towel and a change of clothes for after our activities. Also, Please make sure to check in at the front office if you are attending.

Summer Library Hours

The Libraries at Scott and Western Hills Elementary Schools will be open to the public on June 1st-2nd, 6th-9th, & 13th-16th, 2022 from 10:30-11:55. The will be doing read alouds and activities. Parents or Guardians must be present.
