Meridith, former principal of Dunbar High School and poet Paul Dunbar.  It was established in 1896 as a two room school between 10th and 12 Street.  The first graduating class of three students received their diplomas in 1903.  The school was named Dunbar High School in the early 1900’s.  It was renamed Meridith Junior High School in 1968.  Meridith-Dunbar became an elementary school in 1970.  Meridith-Dunbar opened its doors as Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy in the 2013-2014 school year.

TEF All-Star Pins

Dear TISD Families, Even though schools are closed, our TISD teachers and staff are working tirelessly to insure students have access to the learning and services they need. The Temple Education Foundation invites you to say "thank you" by presenting a special teacher or staff member with an All-Star Pin. All-Star pins attach to the front of a TISD employee's identification badge and are a visible symbol of your care and appreciation. For a $10 donation, your chosen recipient will receive an All-Star Pin accompanied by a personal note from you during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. So whether you want to honor a school janitor, aide, kitchen worker, bus driver, teacher, principal or administrator for the impact they had on you this year, we ask that you go to https://templeeducationfoundation.org/programs/all-star-recognition/ to order your pins today! Proceeds from All-Star pins all go to enhance student scholarships and innovative teaching grants. Thank you for your support of this Temple Wildcat tradition! The Temple Education Foundation
