Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy Home

Our Story

Meridith-Dunbar Elementary was named for G. C. Meridith, former principal of Dunbar High School and poet Paul Dunbar. It was established in 1896 as a two-room school between 10th and 12th Street. The first graduating class of three students received their diplomas in 1903. The school was named Dunbar High School in the early 1900’s. It was renamed Meridith Junior High School in 1968. Meridith-Dunbar became an elementary school in 1970. Meridith-Dunbar opened its doors as Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy in the 2013-2014 school year.

The Book Fair is Coming!!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy November 6-13th. There will be a great selection of books and other great items as well as a chance to win tickets to a Monster Jam event and a package of books. Please join us then. Please see the QR code to our Scholastic homepage where you can check out books that will be there and set up your child's ewallet so you don't have to send cash to school. Meridith-Dunbar to Host Math Night

Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy will be hosting Math Night Thursday, October 22nd from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Panther Parent Academy

Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Learning Academy will be hosting a Parent Academy on October 15th from 7:20 to 8:00 a.m. Parents will be discussing math concepts and Conscious Discipline strategies.

Dr. Ott Announces Reading Challenge

Dr. Ott has challenged Wildcats to read! 📖 Students can read five books from his list of 10 to earn a “Spread the Empire” bracelet, lunch and other goodies. Staff can join in too and earn a certificate! The challenge is on Beanstack which is in Clever. Happy reading, Wildcats!💙📚📖...
