Under the watchful eyes of around a dozen 4-year-olds, master gardener Marjorie Gillmeister explained the life cycle of a seed at Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Education Center recently.
Gillmeister is the youth director for Bell County Master Gardeners. The organization is doing a research project with the pre-kindergarteners’ assistance. The goal of the project is to find out which offers the best environment for a seed to grow, an eggshell or an egg-sized pot made of newspaper.
The subject matter might seem a bit advanced, but Gillmeister said the children are learning.
