I am pleased to report to you that we are off to a very nice start to the 2016-2017 academic year. My…how September has flown by. October is here and it is a beautiful time of year. Try to get out and enjoy the nice weather and do some fun activities as a family. The children had a great time at Lions Park on our Fall Nature Walk.
I hope your attendance at our fall Open House was pleasant and you could see the positive environment your child is learning in. Our custodians worked diligently throughout the summer, to ensure our school was clean, safe and ready for your children. Our teaching and support staff worked very hard at the end of the summer to prepare our classrooms. The classrooms were ready and inviting as students entered in August. Our library is open daily for parents to check out books and Ms. Ankrom has great lessons for the children. It is clear that you, our parents, did their part, as well, in getting your children to start the year off with a positive attitude. Thanks to all!
The main entrance is a positive change for Meridith. Our doors are open for students to enter the building at 7:05 am and 11:30 (in the lunchroom). This is for the safety of all students, faculty and staff. At dismissal time remember to have your dismissal sign in your car or if you walk up. If you do not have your sign you must have your ID and must be on the pickup list to pick up a student. We are asking that you stay in the foyer of the main entrance If you are at another entrance and students are exiting I am requesting you NOT enter through those doors you need to enter through the main entrance. I appreciate your support in this extremely important matter as we want to provide the utmost safety to our students. Please remember breakfast begins at 7:05 am and 7:30 parents must come in the building to sign in their child or 11:45 (at the main entrance). Our dismissal times are 11:00 and 3:15 I am asking that students not be picked up early. The day is packed full of instruction and I do not want students to miss instruction. The students are adjusting back into a routine and are finding out quickly that there is a lot to learn this year. As educators, we are always promoting the habit of becoming lifelong learners. There is a lot of learning going on Meridith teachers are working very attentively to make sure your child/children are getting the best possible, engaging learning environment. We are still placing a significant focus on Positive Behavior with Conscious Discipline, along with Character Education. There are four expectations the faculty and staff are concentrating on with students. They are: BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, BE A PROBLEM SOLVER, & BE SAFE! Ask your child what they are doing to support these important expectations!
